At Emaris Shipping Pte Ltd, we constantly seek ways to improve the efficiency, reliability, and accessibility of our operations both ashore and at sea. One of the recurring challenges we identified during our sailing years was the reliance on paper-based manuals and the difficulties in managing revisions, updates, and accessibility under limited connectivity. To address this, we have developed our first in house online document management system: EmarisOne.

Why We Developed EmarisOne

Traditionally, safety management manuals were distributed in paper format. Officers and shore personnel often had to dedicate numerous hours verifying whether documents were up to date, reviewing revisions, and ensuring that the latest changes had reached all users. Transmission delays and discrepancies frequently surfaced during third party inspections, exposing vessels to unnecessary risks.

Connectivity issues added another layer of complexity. Accessing documents from dedicated platforms often required stable internet connections, a resource not always available while at sea. These inefficiencies prompted us to rethink document control and accessibility for the maritime environment.

How EmarisOne Works

EmarisOne is a Progressive Web Application (PWA) designed specifically for shipboard and office use. The system hosts our standalone Safety Management Manual online, while also allowing both office users and shipboard personnel to view manuals offline without consuming valuable onboard bandwidth.

Through extensive trials and testing, EmarisOne has been fine tuned to work seamlessly onboard our vessels. Even under limited or disrupted connectivity, users can access the most recent versions of manuals instantly, ensuring alignment across ship and shore teams.
